March 2008: WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli is clearly excited about his ‘Battle of Britain’ encounter with WBC/WBA supremo David Haye at Greenwich’s O2 Arena this weekend.
The big punching 27-year-old from Swansea knows that his bold and brash opponent also is also capable of ending a fight with a single shot, but feels that will make the clash all the more enthralling for the army of fans that will follow him east to London for the fight.
“Haye comes to knock people out,” He said. “I like to knock people out. I’m a finalist, and I love boxing. I like to punch out. Haye likes to punch it out. I’m ready for this fight, so it’s going to be a good clash. This is a fight between the two top cruisers champions.
“This is a clash of the world titans. It comes down to the two of us, and we both like to fight. We both like to knock people out.
“I just come to fight. I don’t come to mess about or play around. This fight is being publicized in Britain. There’s no other fight that captures the time this one.”
